ARG wins AIDS Service Organization of the Year Award!
On December 1, 2011, Program Managers Tracy Huck and Stacey Easley attended the Indiana Minority AIDS Coalition's World AIDS Day Gala in Indianapolis at the Downtown Hilton. The evening was a chance for those working in HIV/AIDS to reflect on another year of trials, tribulations and, most importantly, progress. The evening was also a chance for the Coalition to recognize those doing great work in the field, including advocates, game changers and agencies who assist those living with the disease on a daily basis. Toward the end of the evening, the award the crowd had been waiting for was finally up--ASO of the Year. While many agencies do great work, it was ARG who's star shone brightest that evening. Congratulations to the ARG staff, Board of Director's and supporters who have never doubted the most throughful and caring warriors are right here, in our own backyard.
Graceful Giving--A Chance to Give to Those in Need
The holidays are quickly approaching, and with them, comes the time of year when we reach out to help others. The AIDS Resource Group is seeking organizations and individuals to sponsor clients and their families for our Graceful Giving program, which provides gift and food baskets to active ARG clients to help alleviate some of the stress felt by those in need around the holidays.
In year’s past, the AIDS Resource Group (ARG) has teamed with another organization to conduct a project that assists the clients of ARG and their families by providing gift baskets during the holiday season. This year, the staff of ARG is happy to report that we will be taking on this project internally. By conducting the project internally, we are making the process more cost effective, improving the timely delivery of items to those in need and enhancing client confidentiality.
To make this program a success, we need your help! For every $25 you can donate, one person living with or affected by HIV/AIDS will receive a gift basket and their household will receive a food basket valued at $55. Additionally, thanks to a generous sponsor, each household will receive a $25 gift card to help supplement the basket they receive!
To break it down, a $25 donation helps provide over $100 worth of financial assistance to each participating client. The process is simple—send your donation to ARG with a memo of “Graceful Giving” and we will do the shopping and wrapping for you. If you would rather purchase gifts yourself, you can contact the agency and request to sponsor a family or group of individuals and do the shopping and wrapping yourself. Each client or household member will provide the agency with a wish list to ease the burden of shopping for someone you do not know. Gifts or donations must be received by close of business December 6, 2011.

Mardi Bras 2012 Slated for Saturday, February 18th at Casino Aztar
Building on the momentum of last year's stellar showing, Mardi Bras is moving to Saturday night! The event will still feature your favorite unique designs and quirky atmosphere, except now you don't have to go to work the next day! Mardi Bras 2012 will take place at the Casino Aztar Conference Center on Saturday, February 18 from 7 pm to 11 pm. Complimenary hors d'oeurves will be served and Aztar will provide a cash bar. Over the past two years, we have had over 250 people participate in this uniquely ARG event, and we don't want you to miss this year's show! All proceeds benefit the AIDS Resource Group, southwestern Indiana's only AIDS service organization! Tickets will go on sale January 9th, 2012 and will be $25 for general admission.
